ASG Aerospace, which manufactures components for Bombardier’s Global 8000, has welcomed UK Civil Aviation Authority approval for the aircraft to operate at London City Airport, announced on 10 September 2026.
London City is among the most demanding airports in the world for business jets. Noise-abatement rules require a 5.5-degree approach, almost twice as steep as the industry standard, onto a notably short runway. Bombardier credits the aircraft’s wing design, including its leading-edge slats, and its braking systems with meeting London City’s performance requirements.
The Global 8000 entered service in December 2025 and is the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde, with a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles.
Simon Weston, Chief Executive Officer of ASG Aerospace, said: “The Global 8000 brings together very high cruise speed and the handling needed for one of the most demanding approaches in Europe. That puts real demands on manufacturing precision, materials and finishing, and we’re proud that ASG Aerospace components are on board.
“Programmes like this are why we keep investing in capability, technology and skills across our UK and German sites.”
