Strengthening the UK semiconductor supply chain

We’re delighted that ASG AMF Precision Engineering has been selected as one of five successful applicants in the fourth and final funding call of the CSconnected £1m Supply Chain Development Programme, delivered in partnership with Cardiff Capital Region.

The funding will support AMF’s UHV Precision Cleaning Capability Enhancement project, investing in advanced cleaning and inspection equipment to establish an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) process capability for evolving and next-generation semiconductor products.

For ASG Aerospace, this is another important step in developing our capability beyond precision manufacture into the specialist processes our customers need.

Zack Kirkman of ASG AMF Precision Engineering commented: “This investment gives AMF the opportunity to extend the precision we already deliver in component manufacture into another critical stage of the semiconductor supply chain. UHV applications demand exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, inspection and process control, and developing that capability in-house will allow us to offer customers a more complete manufacturing solution. For us, it is about investing ahead of demand and building the technical capability required for the next generation of semiconductor products.”

With AMF already manufacturing complex components and assemblies for the semiconductor sector, this investment will strengthen our ability to support customers across the UK’s growing compound semiconductor ecosystem.

It also demonstrates the value of connecting the specialist capabilities of South Wales with advanced manufacturing expertise across the wider UK supply chain.
