Pioneers of Tomorrow: Inspiring the next generation of aerospace engineers
Alongside the aircraft displays and international business of Farnborough International Airshow, one of the most important days of the week belongs to the next generation.
Pioneers of Tomorrow returns on Friday 24 July, opening the show to students, apprentices, families and educators. It has become one of the industry's flagship initiatives for inspiring future engineers, scientists and manufacturing specialists, and a reminder that the future of aerospace depends as much on people as it does on technology.
For ASG Aerospace, that message reflects its own approach to developing engineering talent. Across its businesses, apprenticeships, graduate development and skills investment underpin long-term growth. ASG Aerospace supports apprentices, engages with schools and takes part in STEM initiatives that introduce engineering to the next generation. Earlier this month, apprentices from ASG Produmax delivered hands-on engineering activities at STEMFest Yorkshire and Humber, giving around 2,000 students the opportunity to experience aerospace manufacturing first-hand.
Experiences like these connect classroom learning with real careers, showing that engineering combines creativity, technology and problem-solving across a wide range of disciplines. Richards believes inspiring future engineers begins long before anyone submits a job application.
"The engineers who will lead our industry twenty years from now are sitting in classrooms today. Giving them opportunities to experience manufacturing, meet engineers and understand what these careers involve is one of the best investments our industry can make."
